Youth Participation and Engagement
Youth Participation and Engagement play a crucial role in shaping the future. When young individuals actively participate in various social, educational and community activities, they bring fresh perspective and innovative ideas to the table. Their energy, enthusiasm and unique experiences contribute to the overall growth and development of society. Through active engagement, young people can acquire essential skills and become agents of positive change. Agape Youth Movement implemented programmes such as Intergenerational dialogues & webinars, Advocacy & Media training that promote youth participation, and empowers them to take ownership of their future and actively contribute to building a better world for all.
Value-based Leadership
Value-based leadership aims to create a purpose-driven, ethical and sustainable organisation or individual. It fosters a culture that promotes moral values, guides decision making and inspires individuals to act in alignment with their own values.
Agape Youth Movement known for its commitment to promoting young leaders, collaborated with the Ubuntu Youth Leadership Programme to reinforce the values of Ubuntu and instill value-based leadership skills among young individuals. Through workshops and training sessions, Agape Youth Movement in collaboration with Ubuntu Youth Leadership trains young leaders who are able to serve as agents of change on, self-knowledge, empathy, resilience, self-confidence and service.
Early Prevention of Gender-Based violence
Together with the National Strategy Plan, the Agape Youth Movement implements different awareness campaigns, educational workshops, and events that challenge harmful gender stereotypes, promote healthy relationships, and encourage bystander interventions. By joined efforts, Agape Youth Movement and the National Strategic Plan Pillar 2, contribute to early prevention of the GBVF , working towards a future where all individuals are treated with dignity and where violence is no longer accepted within South African communities.
Life Skills
Life Skills are the abilities and competencies that help individuals navigate and succeed in various aspects of life. Department of Basic Education in partnership with Agape Youth Movement and other stakeholders implemented the Sports for Development program that uses a sport-based gaming activity to get you to think about child protection, health, gender equality and most importantly leadership. This programme is designed to get you thinking and discussing the various social skills affecting young people and how they can be addressed. It is also going to improve your digital and media literacy skills by ensuring you can develop into active digital citizens.
Online Child Safety
Online safety for children in South Africa is becoming increasingly important as more children use the internet for entertainment, education, and communication. While the internet provides numerous benefits to children, it also exposes them to a variety of online risks such as cyberbullying, online grooming, improper content exposure, and sexual exploitation. Agape Youth Movement (AYM) will collaborate with the government and civil society organisations to increase the importance of online child protection in government policies. AYM will also collaborate with the government and other stakeholders to create online kid safety rules and information materials.
